Dilution required before use on the skin
Essential oils with this classification should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin.
Diluting essential oils in a carrier oil before applying them to the skin does not reduce their effectiveness as the carrier oil facilitates their absorption.
Dilution
One of the most important elements of applying essential oils topically is understanding dilution. While some people think that diluting an oil before using it topically takes away its potency or power, the truth is that it extends the benefits of the essential oil by increasing its absorption through the skin. The best way to dilute an essential oil before applying it topically is to combine it with a carrier oil such as dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil.
It is important to know that some essential oils should always be diluted before external application, due to their strong chemistry. Remember to always dilute the following oils with a fractionated coconut oil before placing them on your skin to avoid any sensitivity:
Internal use

Warnings
Never use essential oils in the eyes or ear canal.
If you experience redness or irritation after using essential oils topically, apply a carrier oil (e.g., dōTERRA® Fractionated Coconut Oil) to the affected area, as water does not dilute essential oils.
Consult your doctor before using essential oils if you are pregnant or taking medication.
