Guaiacwood essential oil is the wood oil in the dōTERRA range that is applied as it is, for those who like earthy scents with a subtle sweetness. It is distilled from the heartwood of Bulnesia sarmientoi, a tree that grows only in the Gran Chaco forest in Paraguay, then blended with fractionated coconut oil: it glides over the skin with no further dilution.

The Indigenous peoples of South America have used it for centuries in meditation. Its earthy, slightly sweet aroma is grounding: applied to the wrists and the back of the neck or diffused before yoga, it promotes a calm, tranquil atmosphere. Interesting fact

In Paraguay and Argentina it is called palo santo, “holy wood”, like another, unrelated tree, Bursera graveolens from Ecuador and Peru, which often leads to confusion. Its wood is so dense that it sinks in water.
