Discover the benefits of dōTERRA Marjoram essential oil
Marjoram, or Origanum majorana, also known as "winter sweetness" or "mountain joy," is a perennial plant in the mint family (Lamiaceae) that thrives in warm climates. The marjoram plant produces tiny tubular flowers that are white or pale pink, and its green, oval leaves emit a light fragrance. The dried leaves can be used in cooking or steam-distilled to produce the valuable marjoram essential oil.
In ancient times, for the Greeks and Romans, marjoram was a symbol of happiness. Generally known for its ability to flavor dishes, marjoram essential oil is a unique culinary aid.
The herbaceous flavor of marjoram essential oil can be used in soups, stews, salad dressings, and sauces. Much more potent than dehydrated seasonings, spices, or other flavoring agents, even the smallest amount can intensely flavor your dish.
When using it in cooking, be sure to employ the toothpick method, which involves dipping the tip of a clean toothpick into the bottle of essential oil and then mixing the ingredients with the toothpick. After stirring the dish with the toothpick, taste to decide whether or not you wish to add more oil.
When diffused, marjoram oil blends well with bergamot, cypress, lavender and rosemary oils to create a most pleasant aroma.
