Vetiver essential oil is the evening oil of the dōTERRA range, for anyone looking to slow down at the end of the day. It is distilled from the roots of a Haitian grass that reach two to four metres underground: a thick oil with a woody, smoky scent and notes of caramel.

Its rich, earthy aroma, prized by perfumers, is calming and grounding. Two drops in a warm bath are enough for deep relaxation; applied to the soles of the feet before bed, it creates a restful atmosphere. After a day on your feet, it accompanies a soothing massage. In the diffuser, it blends with Lavender, doTERRA Serenity or doTERRA Balance. Too thick to pour, it is best taken out with the tip of a toothpick.

An end-of-day oil, best kept close to the bathtub.

In India, vetiver roots, known as khus, were woven into mats that were hung at the windows and watered in summer. The air passing through them cooled the house and scented it.

  • Cosmetic

    Mix two drops with a spoonful of carrier oil and add them to a warm bath for deep relaxation.

    Apply a diluted drop to the soles of the feet before bed.

    After a day on your feet, mix three to four drops with fractionated coconut oil for a soothing massage of the feet and legs.

    Apply a diluted drop to the neck and wrists as a comforting, earthy perfume.

    Add a drop to your night cream for revitalised-looking skin.

    Diffuse it in the bedroom at bedtime for a restful atmosphere.

    Use one or two drops as a base note in your diffuser blends for a woody, earthy scent.
