Shinrin-Yoku essential oil blend brings together twelve forest plants: Lemon and its petitgrain, Patchouli, Magnolia, Siberian Fir, Cardamom, Cypress, Hinoki, Lavandin, Grapefruit, Portuguese Cypress and Geranium. Three conifers, two citrus fruits, one flower: it is the greenest blend in the catalogue.
It contains essential oils rich in terpenes and phytoncides, the compounds trees give off and that you breathe in a forest, and releases a refreshing, inspiring aroma well suited to restoring yourself. Four drops in the diffuser for a clear, fresh environment, a few drops in a carrier oil for a shoulder massage, a diluted drop on the wrists before a stretch of writing or meditation.
The name comes from Japanese: shinrin, the forest, yoku, the bath. Taken separately, Cypress and Hinoki are dry and the citrus notes evaporate quickly. Together they hold the smell of undergrowth, which none of these oils gives on its own.

At the heart of Shinrin-Yoku dōTERRA
Oil from the peel of Citrus limon
Cold-pressed from the peel, never from the juice: it takes some sixty lemons to fill a 15 ml bottle. Its limonene, by far the main component, gives that clean, immediate aroma everyone recognises. It is one of the most widely used oils in the world.
Oil from the leaves of Pogostemon cablin
A herbaceous plant from South-East Asia whose leaves must ferment before distillation, as tea does. This ageing develops its musky, sweet scent, which keeps asserting itself over the years in the bottle. It gives the blend its staying power and its earthy depth.
Oil from the flowers of Michelia alba
A tree whose white flowers last only a day, which calls for picking by hand every morning. Its scent is floral and fruity, lighter than jasmine, with an almost tea-like facet. It is one of the most delicate ingredients in the range.
Oil from the needles of Abies sibirica
Its needles and young branches, gathered in the boreal forests, are what is distilled. Rich in bornyl acetate, it gives off exactly the smell of a freshly cut fir, green and faintly sweet. It brings the blend its resinous freshness.
