dōTERRA distils it in Madagascar from fresh, undried rhizomes, which preserves a rounder aromatic profile. The zingiberene it contains brings that recognisable spiced warmth, at once pungent and sweet. It is the ingredient that gives the blend its comforting character.

Its white flowers release their scent only at night, which calls for picking before dawn. Too fragile for steam distillation, they go through extraction instead, hence the term absolute. The result is heady, rich, recognisable among all others.

Indian sandalwood, whose ritual use goes back more than four thousand years. The tree must reach some thirty years of age before its heartwood is rich enough to be distilled. Its creamy, milky scent lasts for hours on the skin: the base note par excellence.

Its star-shaped yellow flowers, picked by hand early in the morning, have been used in South-East Asian ceremonies for centuries. Rich in benzyl benzoate, its scent is intensely floral, almost heady. It is a signature you recognise the moment the bottle is opened.
