Peace dōTERRA Essential Oil Blend | 5 ml

Often called the king of essential oils. It is obtained by scoring the bark of trees grown in semi-desert country, then distilling the dried resin that beads from the cut. Its scent combines woody, resinous and faintly citrus notes. Used in ancient Egypt for perfumes and balms, it gives the blend its depth.

The best-known oil in the world, and probably the oldest: the Romans already scented their baths with it, which is where its name comes from. Its linalool and linalyl acetate form that soft floral aroma, recognisable at once. It is the heart of every blend it enters.

It is not the plant that is distilled but its roots, which reach several metres underground. Hence that deeply earthy scent, smoky, almost woody, with no equivalent elsewhere. It anchors the blend and gives it its most tenacious base note.

Its star-shaped yellow flowers, picked by hand early in the morning, have been used in South-East Asian ceremonies for centuries. Rich in benzyl benzoate, its scent is intensely floral, almost heady. It is a signature you recognise the moment the bottle is opened.

Softer than peppermint, it contains carvone where its cousin contains menthol, and that changes everything: no cold effect, but a round, faintly sweet freshness. This is the mint of chewing gum and mojitos. It brings liveliness without sharpness.

Its name comes from the Latin clarus, clear: its seeds were once used to cleanse the eye. A tall plant with mauve flowers, it yields an oil rich in linalyl acetate, herbaceous and faintly nutty. It gives the blend structure without hardening its character.

The Greeks and the Romans made it a symbol of happiness and wove it into wreaths. Its terpinen-4-ol gives a warm, herbaceous aroma, almost like a kitchen garden. It brings a green touch that tempers the floral sweetness.
